Hongie is the artistic alias of French-Chinese painter Xiaohong Cai (1962), based in Compiègne, in the Oise region of France. She studied painting alongside her husband, a professional artist, developing a distinctive style rooted in both Eastern and Western sensibilities.

Specializing in landscapes, Hongie draws profound inspiration from nature—particularly the beautiful forest of Compiègne that surrounds her. Over time, her work has evolved from figurative depictions to abstract compositions, where form and color unite to stir imagination and emotion.
