About the artwork
This painting was painted in the 1960s, after a visit to the Tate Gallery in London of a major exhibition dedicated to the painter Turner. Tenurb-Géneau was able to realize to what extent certain canvases, (more particularly the "seascapes") by this 19th century master, foreshadowed what a century later would characterize Lyrical Abstraction. A painting between abstraction and figuration ... This work has long been part of the painter's collection.
